Salt Water & Moissanite

Moissanite (silicon carbide, SiC) is chemically inert — it does not react with salt water, chlorinated pool water, or any chemical compound present in normal marine environments. Salt water will not etch, cloud, discolor, or damage a moissanite stone. The stone itself is entirely beach-safe from a chemical standpoint.

Salt Water & Gold Settings

Solid 14K and 18K gold are resistant to salt water corrosion — gold does not oxidize or tarnish in salt water. Extended, repeated exposure without rinsing can, over time, contribute to surface dulling and may accelerate the loosening of prong tips when combined with physical activity.

Practical recommendation: Rinse pieces with fresh water after salt water exposure and inspect prongs periodically for tightness.
