3. What Exactly Is the Metal?
The metal description on a listing must be specific. “Sterling silver with platinum plating,” “14K solid yellow gold,” and “14K gold-plated silver” are three entirely different products with different durability, maintenance requirements, and long-term performance profiles.
What to ask: “Is this solid gold or gold-plated? What is the base metal? What is the plating type and approximate thickness?”
